Council Review Looks at Systematic Approach To Implement Digital Health Strategies in Older Adults
A systematic approach may be needed to study and implement digital health strategies in older adults, according to a state-of-the-art review from ACC's Health Care Innovation, Cardiovascular Team and Geriatric Cardiology Councils published Nov. 23 in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Ashok Krishnaswami, MBBS, FACC, et al., review current knowledge of the benefits, barriers and use of digital health in older adults for cardiovascular disease management. The authors note that the expansion of digital health, Internet access, and cellular technologies provides an opportunity to enhance patient care and improve health outcomes – opportunities that are particularly relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic. They add that scaling up of digital health tools should be accompanied by further research on its efficacy, safety and cost effectiveness. Read more.
