ACC's Geriatric Cardiology Member Section brings together a multidisciplinary community focused on integrating cardiovascular medicine with the principles of aging science, geriatric syndromes and patient-centered care. The section serves as a professional home for clinicians, investigators, educators and trainees committed to improving cardiovascular health in older adults. The work of this community includes clinical practice, research, education and advocacy.

A central priority during the coming years is to strengthen the pipeline of investigators studying cardiovascular aging. We welcome Fellows in Training, Early Career professionals and trainees across disciplines who are interested in developing expertise in this field. The Section Leadership Council will continue to support initiatives that expand education in cardiovascular aging, promote mentorship, and foster collaborative research networks focused on aging and cardiovascular disease. These efforts aim to generate evidence that informs clinical care for older adults across the full spectrum of cardiovascular conditions.

An additional priority is to strengthen engagement with health policy and government stakeholders to ensure that the needs of older adults with cardiovascular disease are reflected in national priorities. This includes advancing policies that support research funding, equitable access to cardiovascular therapies, age-friendly health systems and the development of clinical guidelines that recognize the complexity of aging populations.

We also aim to broaden the integration of aging science across all areas of cardiology. Aging influences outcomes in every subspecialty. Our section seeks to collaborate with other ACC Member Sections to advance understanding of how aging biology, geriatric syndromes, and multimorbidity shape treatment decisions and outcomes.

As the global population ages, cardiovascular medicine must evolve to address issues such as multimorbidity, frailty, functional decline, and quality of life. Our community is well positioned to lead this transformation.

We invite you to join us in advancing the science, education, policy and clinical care of cardiovascular aging.

Sincerely,

Abdulla A. Damluji, MD, PhD, MBA, FACC
