The Academic Cardiology Member Section and Leadership Council advises the College on strategy related to academic cardiovascular initiatives and activities. Section members serve as a voice for the academic cardiovascular community—working to strengthen advocacy within academic cardiology in particular—and provide recommendations on College strategy on related initiatives.

Additionally, the Section helps participants advance their careers through leadership and networking opportunities within their specialty, including participating in dialogue regarding policy and working to enhance opportunities for multidisciplinary training.
