Heart of Health Policy | ACE Kids Act Becomes Law
President Donald J. Trump last month signed the Advancing Care for Exceptional (ACE) Kids Act of 2019 into law as part of a package of Medicaid bills, called the Medicaid Services Investment and Accountability Act of 2019 (H.R. 1839).
This follows reintroduction of the ACE Kids bills earlier this year in the U.S. Senate and House by lead co-sponsors Sens. Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Reps. Kathy Castor (D-FL), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA).
The Act will improve care coordination for children with medical complexities on Medicaid, especially in instances when they would need to visit multiple providers across state lines.
ACC's Adult Congenital and Pediatric Cardiology Advocacy Work Group was a strong advocate for this legislation and joined with fellow stakeholder organizations, including the Children's Hospital Association, in a variety of efforts to encourage its passage.
