Median Cardiologist Compensation Continues to Rise
The pattern of cardiology employment has certainly been evolving over the last decade or so, with an increasing percentage of cardiologists being employed by health care organizations rather than private practice. Initial health care organization employment contracts oftentimes provided compensation higher than that obtained in private practice. However, it was anticipated that cardiologist compensation would subsequently decline, particularly as contract renegotiations occurred. This has not proven to be the case, and instead we have seen a continued gradual increase in median cardiologist compensation.
