Poll Results: Do You Preload a P2Y12 Inhibitor Prior to PCI?
In a recent poll, clinicians were asked about the role of preloading in patients who present with a non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction for whom angiographies were planned for the next day. Of the 357 respondents, the highest vote getter was no preloading and treat with aspirin alone until angiography, chosen by 47% of respondents. Among the rest of the respondents, 32% chose preloading with aspirin and ticagrelor, with almost 1 in 5 (19%) using aspirin plus clopidogrel. The combination of aspirin and prasugrel was chosen by only 2%, likely reflecting its lack of indication in patients not undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
