Attebery Resigns as ACC and MedAxiom CEO
Cathleen Gates Named Interim CEO
Tim Attebery, DSc, MBA, FACHE has resigned as CEO of the American College of Cardiology and MedAxiom, as the result of changing personal and family priorities. The ACC Board of Trustees has selected Cathleen Gates as interim CEO for the near future.
"We thank Tim for his passion and tireless work for the College's Mission and Vision over the last year and a half," said ACC President Athena Poppas, MD, FACC. "We wish him well in his future endeavors."
Attebery joined the College as CEO in September 2018. During his tenure, the College embarked on its latest five-year Strategic Plan and welcomed MedAxiom as an ACC company. Under his leadership, the College continued to grow and be recognized globally as an innovative and accountable organization committed to transforming cardiovascular care and improving heart health.
"While Tim will be missed, the BOT has the utmost confidence in Cathy's strong and adept leadership," said Poppas. "She, along with the talented ACC staff, will continue to ensure that the College's operational effectiveness and strategic direction are aligned to meet the needs of our members around the globe."
Cathy has served the College for nearly 30 years, most recently as senior executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer. She also led the College as interim CEO during the ACC's previous CEO transition from 2017-2018.
