Poll Results: IVUS for PCI
Results from the most recent poll, "Use of IVUS for Guidance in Coronary Stent Implantation," show that over half of responders regularly use intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (20.5% regularly use plus 35.9% have increased usage). However, 41% of responders still use IVUS less than 10% of the time. Encouragingly, responders report that the technology is almost always available in their catheterization laboratories. Thus, IVUS is available and used to a larger degree by approximately 20% of responders but not as frequently as the studies suggest is necessary for optimal late PCI results. The responses are limited, but let's hope that use is increasing for optimal lesion results contributing to improved late outcomes.
