HeartCARE Center Distinction Recognizes Hospital Dedication to Quality Improvement
ACC Accreditation Services launched HeartCARE Center: National Distinction of Excellence in 2018 to recognize institutions that have demonstrated commitment to exceptional cardiovascular care, process improvement, and sustainable quality improvement through participation in multiple ACC Accreditation and/or NCDR programs.
CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital – Tyler in Texas was the first institution to earn the HeartCARE Center distinction for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality cardiovascular care through accreditations and ongoing registry reporting. All told, 10 institutions earned the distinctive honor in 2018 and will be recognized as HeartCARE Center Pioneers during ACC Quality Summit.
“Every day hospitals are demonstrating their commitment to quality cardiovascular care by meeting accreditation criteria and through their ongoing performance measurement in registry reporting,” said Phillip David Levy, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of ACC’s Accreditation Management Board. “ACC’s new HeartCARE Center: National Distinction of Excellence program is designed to shine a light on the elite group of U.S. hospitals that are going above and beyond to ensure each patient that comes through their doors has access to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care.”
The new designation is the highest recognition hospitals can receive from the ACC. Hospitals can achieve the new designation by participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, as well as ACC’s NCDR programs and other targeted quality improvement efforts. Keywords: Quality Improvement, Accreditation, Registries, Quality Summit, National Cardiovascular Data Registries
