Julia Grapsa, MD, PhD, FACC, and Bonnie Ky, MD, FACC, have been named as Editors-in-Chief of the two newest JACC Journals – JACC: Case Reports and JACC: CardioOncology – launching in June and September, respectively. Grapsa and Ky are the first two women to hold the title of Editor-in-Chief for a JACC journal. Both journals will be online, open-access journals, similar to JACC: Basic to Translational Science.

Grapsa is currently a consultant cardiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust, home to Europe's largest specialized cardiovascular center at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and is head of the Echocardiography Department at The Royal London Hospital. She is also an associate professor at University College London. Her areas of research include pulmonary hypertension and the study of right heart remodeling with multimodality imaging. Grapsa is already a part of the JACC family of journals, serving as an editorial consultant for JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging.

"I am honored to be joining this new venture and confident that we will provide high quality content and transform clinical cardiology through clinical cases," Grapsa said. "It is a privilege for me to be able to work with some of the leading cardiologists of our generation worldwide and be a part of the JACC Journals family."

Ky is an associate professor of medicine and epidemiology and a physician scientist at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She leads a highly active National Institutes of Health-funded translational research program in cardio-oncology and is the principal investigator of multiple cohort studies and clinical trials focused on the cardiotoxic effects of various cancer therapies. Ky is also the founding director of the Penn Cardio-Oncology Center of Excellence, chair of the National Cancer Institute-funded ECOG ACRIN Cardiotoxicity Subcommittee, and director of the Penn Center for Quantitative Echocardiography. She is an inducted member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, as well as a section editor for cardio-oncology for JACC.

"It is a great honor to serve as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of JACC: CardioOncology," Ky said. "My vision is for the journal to play a vital and transformative role in advancing the cardiovascular care of a growing cancer population through the dissemination of knowledge and the education of providers who care for cancer patients."
