A Snapshot of Our Work

Patient Count: 100
Echo Count: 5
Ultrasound Count: 3
Labs with iStat machine: 2
Final altitude: 13,000 feet

Today we traveled to this small village and had many sick patients to see. We had several with severe anemia (one with a hemoglobin of 7 mg/dL, which is accentuated when living at 13,000 feet) and several with heart murmurs.

One of our echos picked up a tricuspid regurgitation. We used the ultrasound for many purposes today, including to check for gallstones, a pregnancy and to look at another patient’s kidneys.
