Pulse: Roxana Mehran, MD, FACC, Recognized For Leadership in Women's CV Disease
ACC Interventional Section Chair Roxana Mehran, MD, FACC, was recognized with the Bernadine Healy Leadership in Women's CV Disease Award during ACC.17.
"Dr. Roxana Mehran has helped transform interventional cardiology and advanced gender-based understanding and opportunities in medicine - all of the hallmarks of a worthy recipient of [this award]," writes Gregg W. Stone, MD, FACC.
Mehran is the chief scientific officer at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and is a professor of medicine (cardiology) and health evidence and policy at the Icahn School of Medicine in Mount Sinai in New York. She has led or served on the steering committee in more than 40 clinical trials, has published more than 775 peer-reviewed articles and has co-authored 600 abstracts. She also co-founded the Women in Innovations initiative, which focuses on mentoring the next generation of female interventional cardiologists.
