Dr. Duk-Woo Park Announced as Deputy Editor of JACC: Asia

South Korea-based physician scientist among prestigious representatives of cardiovascular health to serve on journal’s editorial board

WASHINGTON (Feb 08, 2021) -

Duk-Woo Park, MD, PhD, has been named a deputy editor of JACC: Asia, the American College of Cardiology’s newest journal, which will feature original articles, cutting-edge technology manuscripts and clinical practice guidelines centered on Asian populations and by Asian authors.

A renowned interventional cardiologist, Park is currently a professor of interventional cardiology at the Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. Park’s primary research interest has been in coronary revascularization treatments such as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG), PCI for left main coronary disease, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), antiplatelet therapies and biomarkers. He has been an investigator of many clinical trials conducted at the Asan Medical Center.

“It is a great opportunity in my career to serve as a deputy editor of JACC: Asia,” Park said. “I intend to work closely with the journal’s editorial board members and with research authors in the East Asia region to publish important scientific studies in the cardiovascular health field focused on Asian populations. With JACC: Asia, I will be part of a dedicated team that works to enhance cardiovascular care and prevent heart disease.”

Park will be one of three deputy editors for the journal. Dong Zhao, MD, PhD, professor of preventive cardiology at the Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases; and Wataru Shimizu, MD, PhD, professor and chairman of the department of cardiovascular medicine at the Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, will also serve as deputy editors.

Jian’an Wang, MD, PhD, FACC, was announced as the inaugural editor-of-chief of JACC: Asia in December.

JACC: Asia is currently finalizing its editorial board that will include representatives specializing in cardiovascular health from across the East Asia region. The journal will begin publishing manuscripts in the next few months.
