JACC: Insights From Midcareer Women in Cardiology

A recent article published in JACC discusses ACC's Sandra J. Lewis Mid-Career Leadership Institute, which addresses the underrepresentation of mid-career women in cardiology and empowers participants through targeted leadership development initiatives including intentional networking, peer mentoring, sponsorship and more. "Despite comprising more than 50% of the health care workforce, women continue to be underrepresented in top leadership positions … [Mid-career women face] challenges such as limited opportunities for professional growth, disparities in compensation…" Read more. The program kicked off its second cohort in January 2024 and has already impacted the careers of more than 40 women.
