The new issue of JACC: Basic to Translational Science includes a focus issue highlighting innovative presentations given as part of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation's inaugural 2022 Technology for Heart Failure Therapeutics (THT) Shark Tank innovation competition. The issue provides a glimpse into the future of devices and novel therapeutics for the treatment of heart failure (HF) with brief reports summarizing each of seven presentations given by start-up companies to an esteemed panel of clinicians, regulatory experts and investors. "Technologies ranged from monitoring devices with machine learning backends to devices for acute decompensated and chronic HF," wrote Daniel Burkhoff, MD, PhD; Juan F. Granada, MD; and Martin B. Leon, MD, FACC, in the issue's introduction. "Collectively, these reports highlight the process of translational research and serve to inspire readers to join the quest to develop new devices for the treatment of HF!" Read the special issue.
