Everyone, including physicians and other health care professionals, has implicit (also called unconscious) biases that affect how they view the world and interact with others.

A recent Cardiology magazine article deep dives into the several definitions of implicit bias that all come down to the same thing: attitudes or decisions that lead to unintended disparities and inequalities and reinforce cultural biases, resulting in "unintended consequences."
