Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the ACC Iowa Chapter and ACC Iowa Fellows in Training (FIT) Council have made continuing fellow education a priority. The general cardiology board-oriented lecture series – first conceived by ACC Iowa Chapter President Mahi L. Ashwath, MD, MBA, FACC, and planned with Shubha Deep Roy, MD, and Nancy Adams – ran every Saturday for 12 weeks, starting May 2nd and ending on July 25th, with 39 talks by 30 speakers across four states.

Each weekly session had three to four lectures by experts in their respective fields. The lecture recordings, slides and other educational material are available on the ACC Iowa Chapter website. This lecture series was highly successful, well attended and extremely well received by fellows from the U.S. and multiple other countries.

As a follow-up to this very successful lecture series, the ACC Iowa Chapter in collaboration with the ACC Early Career Section, have launched a virtual Interventional Cardiology Board Review Lecture Series. This lecture series has been scheduled every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CT from Aug. 1 – 22.

The series will feature lectures by some of the nationally and internationally renowned interventional cardiologists. Each Saturday, there will be three high-yield and board-oriented lectures using Zoom, followed by a panel case discussion for about 30 minutes.

Each lecture will be about 45 minutes long, followed by about 15 minutes of question and answer session where audience can post questions for the speakers in the chat box and the moderators will ask those questions to the speakers.

The intended audience for this lecture series includes interventional cardiology fellows, general cardiology fellows interested in a career in interventional cardiology, and early career cardiologists – especially interventional cardiologists and any other cardiologist interested in them.
