Journal Scan | Impact of Early Follow-Up on Mortality and Readmissions After Emergency Care of HF Cohort
Each year, over 1 million patients with heart failure (HF) present to the emergency department and are often treated with diuretic therapy and discharged. Optimal timing of physician follow-up after an emergency department visit for HF is unclear, and investigators examined outcomes (i.e., hospital readmission and death) of early and late follow-up among patients with a primary diagnosis of HF who were treated and discharged from the emergency department.
