WA State Eastside CVT Meeting
The annual Washington State Eastside ACC CV Team Dinner was held on Sept. 5, in Spokane, WA, and was a wonderful gathering of registered nurses (RNs), advanced practice registered nurses (ARNPs), physician assistants and a few cardiologists. There were more than 45 attendees and 12 vendors who enjoyed an evening of networking, education, and delicious food and drink.
Eugene Yang, MD, FACC, governor of ACC's Washington Chapter, welcomed the group and presented an overview of the multiple benefits of ACC membership. Our first speaker, Jennifer A. Beckman, MSN, ARNP, from the University of Washington Medical Center and ACC's Washington State CV Team liaison, gave a great presentation on advanced heart failure as well as current management and treatment options for this growing population.
Our second speaker, Mark Harwood, MD, spoke heavily on atrial fibrillation (AFib), another diagnosis that affects a large and growing population of patients that we work with every day. His thorough update on AFib included classification and current treatment of the disease and an explanation of the Watchman procedure.
Drawings were held during the dinner and two lucky winners received $50 gift cards to Amazon! New members could also join the ACC and get $50 off membership if they joined within a week of an ACC dinner or event. There were several attendees that expressed interest in joining and becoming active in the chapter. The ACC Washington State CV Team keeps growing every year and we cannot wait to see what 2019 brings!
