Journal Scan | Effect of Beta-Blocker Treatment on V O2peak in Patients With HF
Beta-blocker treatment of chronic heart failure (HF) has been shown to improve survival and reduce HF-related hospitalizations. Beta-adrenergic blockade blunts peak heart rate; however, less is known about the effects of prolonged beta-blocker treatment on peak oxygen consumption, an important functional index of exercise capacity, in patients with HF.
