Career Development | Teaching Skills Workshop For CV Team Emerging Faculty
The ACC is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Teaching Skills Workshop for Emerging Faculty Course to be held at ACC's Heart House in Washington, DC, Dec. 11 13. The deadline for applications is Monday, Oct. 2. Travel, lodging and meal expenses will be paid for up to two emerging, talented cardiovascular team members to attend this course. The purpose of this course is to promote the development of skills for those Emerging Faculty who are committed to contributing to ACC's education mission. These Emerging Faculty will then be considered by the ACC leadership as potential candidates for future educational courses, as well as ACC committees.
This is a tremendous opportunity for your promising emerging CV Team members, not only for developing their teaching skills but also "opening the door" for other College activities.
Application Submission Process: Letters of nomination may be submitted by anyone who is a recipient of this Call for Nominations. Interested applicants must submit the following application materials to Kelli Bohannon at kbohanno@acc.org by the deadline of Oct. 2:
- Curriculum vitae or resume
- Nomination letter from Chair or Administrator who is familiar with the candidate's abilities
- One supporting letter from a member of the American College of Cardiology who is familiar with the candidates' abilities
- One personal letter from the candidate explaining why they feel they should be part of the course
Eligibility and Target Audience: Candidates must be a Cardiovascular Team member of the American College of Cardiology in good standing and must hold an academic position of at least 50 percent or where there is a complement of cardiovascular team students, medical students or house-staff to be taught.
Selection Criteria and Process: Exceptional talent and dedication to teaching (assisting and supporting the learning process) will guide the selection of course attendees. The Cardiovascular Section Leadership Council will review all nominations and make final selections of course attendees.
Overall Course Goal: The overall goal of this course is to enhance participant's competence by promoting the development of skills for those Emerging Faculty who are committed to contributing to ACC's education mission and to facilitate this transfer of knowledge into their professional practice.
Physician Assistants: The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME.
Nurses: The American College of Cardiology Foundation is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
