Highlights From CV Summit
ACC's 2017 Cardiovascular Summit brought together cardiovascular professionals, business practices and leadership from across the U.S. to discuss how best to achieve operational excellence, ensure cost efficiency and improve patient outcomes during a time of rapid and continual change in the health care system. Two recent Perspectives on ACC.org highlight the most important points from the meeting, including the ins and outs of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) and how to use data for quality reporting. In the first Perspective, Suzette Jaskie, MBA, vice president of Global Medical Affairs at Corindus Vascular Robotics in Ada, MI, pointed out that physicians can choose how to proceed in MACRA in 2017 and strongly recommended "not to choose the 'easy button' and do nothing." In a Perspective titled, "Drinking From the MACRA Fire Hose," Andrew P. Miller, MD, FACC, governor of ACC's Alabama Chapter and chair-elect of ACC's Board of Governors, discusses his experience at the Summit and his tips for success in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Listen to Health Affairs Committee Chair Thad Waites, MD, FACC, discuss the difference between the Affordable Care Act and MACRA in a Facebook Live interview. For more MACRA information, visit the MACRA Hub at ACC.org/MACRA.
