COVID-19 Re-Opening Perspective | Martha Gulati, MD, FACC, on "Re-Opening" CV Services
ACC CardioSmart Editor-in-Chief Martha Gulati, MD, FACC, says her hospital system in Phoenix, AZ, will continue to restrict visitors and require all patients coming for elective procedures to have testing in advance to determine if they’ve been exposed to COVID-19. They will also take into consideration where patients will be going after the procedure, as those going to assisted living, rehabilitation or short-term care facilities will need additional testing before hospital discharge. Currently hospitals have separated COVID and non-COVID floors to protect patients; staff is also separated to minimize the risk to all.
