2020 was a tough year with COVID-19, but it was nevertheless a great year for clinical trial coverage on ACC.org. Common themes for the most popular trials among our audience included SGLT2 inhibitors, antithrombotics, and atrial fibrillation. The emergence of SGLT2 inhibitors as heart failure drugs is indeed a cause for excitement. The complexity of managing anti-thrombotic decisions never ceases to amaze me, though clinical trials really help refine our understanding of which patients benefit most with which regimen. Rhythm control for atrial fibrillation seems to have made a comeback. Here's looking forward to a terrific 2021!
