The South Asian Heart Health Awareness and Research Act of 2019 introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) would go a long way toward reducing the burden of diabetes, risk of heart disease, decreased quality of life, and untimely death within South Asian communities in the U.S.

The Act would provide grant funding for research and implementation of awareness campaigns addressing topics like nutrition education and lifestyle changes that reduce the risks of heart disease and diabetes.
