WASHINGTON (Dec 10, 2024) -
A group of 114 promising high school and undergraduate students have been selected for the 2024 – 2025 ACC Young Scholars Program where they will participate in a year-long education and mentorship program to explore the diverse career paths within the field of cardiology.
“The Young Scholars program brings together the best and the brightest young students in the U.S., fostering the next generation of cardiovascular professionals,” said ACC President Cathleen Biga, MSN, FACC. “I’m honored to congratulate the 2024 – 2025 cohort as they embark on an exciting year of cardiovascular research and mentorship.”
The ACC Young Scholars Program was established in 2019 to introduce students interested in science and research to the field of cardiology and strengthen the pipeline of talent for the future. The Young Scholars program pairs participants with an ACC member mentor for a year of research and education about cardiology and cardiovascular disease.
Participants will attend bi-monthly webinars that focus on a variety of pertinent topics in cardiology. Additionally, all young scholars are invited to ACC headquarters—Heart House-- from December 13-15, 2024, for Camp Cardiac. The two-day event will feature hands-on training in CPR and AED certification by the Red Cross, point-of-care ultrasound techniques, and more.
