The Applied Health Innovation Consortium (AHIC) is a unique and multi-disciplinary group, driving the thought leadership and evidence for application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology in a clinically meaningful way.
Background:
In 2017, the ACC launched an Innovation Strategy, advocating the digital health technologies must be effective and safe, improve efficiency of care, improve patient clinician interaction, and be supported by payment models. In 2019, the ACC and Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation, jointly as the Institute for Computational Health (ICH), brought together representatives from medical professional societies, industry, patient/consumer driven organizations, hospitals/health systems and other stakeholders to discuss current challenges in the application of artificial intelligence to improve cardiovascular care and optimize health outcomes. The participants reached a consensus on the strength of united thought leadership in support of the digital transformation of health care delivery. The result was a newly launched collaborative known as the Applied Health Innovation Consortium.
What is the Consortium?
The Applied Health Consortium is:
- A community of stakeholders united by a shared interest in building a virtual care system that works. Stakeholders include clinicians, clinical researchers, payers, regulatory community, patient advocates, life science and technology companies
- A catalyst in identifying priorities and making progress in specifics and practical ways to impact clinical care
- A vehicle of dissemination that explores opportunities of mutual interest and shares best practices
Dr. Heba Wassif detailed the 2020 AHIC Summit in "Cardiology" magazine in the following article "Virtual Care: Moving Forward Together."
