The American College of Cardiology was proud to host the Chicago Community Health Fair on Tuesday, March 25, at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.
More than 20 local organizations, as well as health care providers, ACC leaders and other experts provided education to the local community about heart disease risk factors like coronary artery disease (CAD), high blood pressure (BP), diabetes and high cholesterol—conditions that often disproportionately affect Black and Hispanic/Latinx communities. Community members were able to take home practical strategies for improving their heart health through exercise, healthy eating and more.
Highlights included:
- 200+ Community Members
- 60+ Member Volunteers
- 20 Community Organizations
- 40 Bloodwork Kits from LetsGetChecked*
- 60+ BP Screenings
- 10 Heart Murmur Screenings
- 14 Cleerly Scans (33% had unknown ischemic disease)
- Raffles and prizes
