Disease in the Elderly

The objectives of this Conference were to identify the
features of cardiovascular biologic aging, provide reasonable
direction for the appropriate recognition and management
of specific cardiovascular illnesses for a number of
specific cardiovascular disorders and their manifestations,
delineate the information that is yet needed to provide
quality cardiovascular care for elderly persons and
identify those clinical features and approaches that
suggest or increase the likelihood of a favorable outcome.
The Conference participants considered the following
subtopics: 1) Features of Cardiovascular Disease Unique
to the Elderly; 2) Features of Cardiovascular Disease
Prevention and Therapy Unique to the Elderly; and 3)
Psychosocial, Economic, Ethical and Technology issues
unique to the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease in
the Elderly.
