Fellows in training will find their experiences with the ACC shifting into higher gear. FIT members receive a complimentary membership while they are in training.

With that membership comes a long list of benefits that include free subscriptions to JACC and Cardiology, reduced rates on educational products and programs, special programs, an FIT web page, a newsletter and, of course, access to many research and travel.
What has been lacking is FIT participation on many of the College committees. That has now changed and FIT members are now included on the roster of several key committees. Not only do they benefit professionally by participating on the committees, the College committees benefit with their added perspectives.

The new FIT Committee met for the first time at ACC ’05 in Orlando. The committee was formed to undertake activities that will meet the professional needs of all FITs and expand the opportunities and benefits available through the ACC. You are urged to contact the committee with your ideas at accfellowsintraining@yahoo.com.

FIT members are also being asked to define what their needs are. Staff will be conducting focus groups and surveys, asking members how their benefits could be improved.

To find out more about the FIT committee and other activities, take a few minutes to visit the FIT page of our website.

Finally, we need your feedback to make the Fellows in Training newsletter meet your professional needs. Please send your content suggestions to adees@acc.org. Feel free to provide brief articles.

ACC’05 Online Expands Coverage

Starting April 12, 2005, see the lectures you missed in Orlando by going to ACC05 Online, ACC’s online resource developed onsite in Orlando at ACC ’05. To access the site, just go to www.acc.org or www.cardiosource.com and click the Annual Scientific Sessions 2005 Online box or access the site directly at www.acc05online.acc.org.

This year, for the first time, attendees, ACC members and subscribers will be able to relive more than 1,000 ACC ’05 sessions and presentations, except for poster presentations and brown bag sessions. The only other exceptions will be those sessions for which ACC did not receive permission. Full site online access is available for FREE to members and meeting attendees using their issued user names and password.

This resource remains available as a main online page until ACC ’06. After that, it can still be accessed through a past meetings link.

CD-ROM and DVD versions will be available May 1. Information on pricing and ordering is available on www.acc05online.acc.org. Subscription information is also available at that location.

Intervention in ACCSAP 6

Look for the upcoming interview in April Cardiology with Jeffrey J. Popma, M.D., F.A.C.C., and Gregory J. Dehmer, M.D., F.A.C.C., authors of the Intervention section of ACCSAP 6.

The authors point out that ACCSAP 6 provides Interventional Cardiologists with a guideline-based review of contemporary interventional cardiology practice, incorporating many of the new trials that support more established guidelines.

The product also includes an intensive review of the SIRIUS and TAXUS studies, says Dr. Popma.
