ACC Interventional Scientific Council and Section

The Interventional Scientific Section of the American College of Cardiology was created as a result of a proposal put forth by member interventionalists to the College’s Board of Trustees at their August, 2007 meeting.

Our Mission

The mission of the Interventional Scientific Council and Section is closely aligned to that of the ACC:

To advocate for quality cardiovascular care in interventional cardiology – through education, research, promotion, development and application of standards and guidelines, and to influence health care policy.

The Interventional Scientific Council reports to the Board of Trustees. The ACC President appoints the Chair of the Interventional Scientific Council. The Section is governed by the Interventional Scientific Council.

Meetings convene at least once per year at the ACC Annual Scientific Sessions and i2 Summit. The Section welcomes all ACC members with a focus on interventional cardiology.

Our Objectives

  • To improve quality of care
  • To strengthen advocacy efforts for the recognition of interventional cardiology and its role in patient care, and for improved access to care
  • To increase the opportunities for interventional education
  • To enhance opportunities for mentoring and career development
  • To foster relationships with other organizations that support interventional cardiology

All members of the College who are certified in Interventional Cardiology or have identified Interventional Cardiology as an area of interest in their member profile are invited to join the Section in its inaugural year.

Lend your voice in shaping the College’s efforts in support of its Interventional Membership.
