PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Statement of Need
More than 80 million Americans suffer from one or more forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and over 910,000 deaths result from CVD each year. Given the alarming statistics associated with the incidence of CVD, the American College of Cardiology is committed to improving patient outcomes by addressing educational needs of cardiovascular specialists. The 41st Annual Cardiovascular Conference at Snowmass fulfills this need by helping medical professionals keep abreast of the new and emerging approaches to the diagnosis, treatment and management of cardiovascular disease.

Overview
Hone your skills and enhance patient care with a comprehensive cardiovascular update!

Join your colleagues in Snowmass for a five-day, in-depth review and update on the latest clinically relevant developments in cardiovascular disease. Boost your professional competence by attending this dynamic conference that will explore a wide range of topics including stable and acute coronary syndromes, rhythm disorders, structural heart disease, congestive heart failure, primary and secondary prevention plus much more. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to interact with highly experienced faculty who focus on optimizing patient outcomes. If you’re a clinician interested in improving the quality of patient care, this program is for you!

Learner Objectives
The overall goal of this program is to increase learners’ competency in their ability to incorporate cardiovascular disease updates in their practice.

Upon completion of this program, learners should be able to -

  • Analyze the most appropriate therapy for chronic coronary and systemic arterial disease using a historical perspective in comparison to contemporary non-interventional approaches
  • Apply pharmacologic and interventional management strategies for patients with acute coronary syndrome
  • Employ clinical strategies and efficiencies to address the needs of the presenting STEMI patient irrespective of time constraints, staff shortages or emergency department limitation
  • Employ and integrate diagnostic imaging and management strategies ranging from ventricular assist to chronic case management for heart failure and transplantation
  • Discuss the causes, consequences and therapy for treating arrhythmias and heart failure
  • Discuss the clinical management options for managing atrial fibrillation and anticoagulation
  • Apply evidence-based treatment guidelines for the management of patients with cardiometabolic risk factors
  • Identify minimally invasive methods, their advantages and limitations for valvular heart disease
