The 37th Annual New York Cardiovascular Symposium Major Topics in Cardiology Today

Directed by Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, FACC

In cosponsorship with The New York Cardiological Society of the New York State Chapter of the ACC

* Registration is closed *

December 10-12, 2004
Hilton New York, New York

Overview & Objectives
The renowned New York Cardiovascular Symposium presents a comprehensive view of major topics in cardiology today. You’ll hear the latest information on diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive approaches to coronary heart disease, cardiac and electrical failure, structural heart disease, aortic aneurysm, infective endocarditis, hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy, pulmonary embolism, and atrial fibrillation.

The expert international faculty will also discuss modalities for identification of risk and evolving preventive strategies, with special emphasis on the elderly, metabolic syndrome/diabetes/obesity, and hypertension. In addition, there will be a seminar devoted to 10 cutting-edge topics with particular emphasis on genetics and evolving cell therapy, as well as on key diagnostic and interventional developments.

Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to—

  • better understand the evaluation and management of patients with cardiovascular disease in the following categories:
    • acute coronary syndromes and chronic coronary disease;
    • valvular heart disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy;
    • atrial and ventricular arrhythmias;
    • heart and electrical failure;
    • thoracic and abdominal aorta, and carotid arteries;
    • identification of risk and prevention in the elderly, diabetics, the obese, and hypertensives;
  • be aware of new advances at the cutting edge:
    • prospects of gene identification in cardiovascular diseases;
    • renovating the heart with new cells;
    • immunomodulation of atherosclerosis using a vaccine;
    • new therapies geared at hypertrophy and HDL-C; and
    • significant advances in interventional cardiology.

The American College of Cardiology Foundation is pleased to co-sponsor the American Society of Echocardiography's Third Annual Vascular Imaging Symposium, scheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2004 at the Hilton New York. This physician focused symposium will cover Vascular Imaging principles for four techniques: Carotid Imaging; Venous Imaging; Lower Extremity Arterial Imaging and Renal and Mesenteric Imaging.
