AUC are developed by the ACC and partner cardiology subspecialty societies to help guide the appropriate use of cardiovascular tests, treatments, and procedures; as well as, to promote cost-effective, quality patient care. AUC are evidence-based and in conjunction with clinician judgment are intended to offer guidance around "when to do" and "how often to do" a given test or procedure.
