The Fellows in Training (FIT) Leadership Council welcomes you to your professional home at ACC! We are excited to have you as part of our community. We recognize the tremendous dedication it took to reach this point in your career and hope to serve as both a resource and a voice for you within the College.

No matter where you are on your fellowship journey, our goal is to provide programming and resources that educate, inform and inspire your career in cardiovascular medicine. The FIT Leadership Council serves as your voice and presence within the College. Through curated in-person programming at national meetings and state or local chapter events, we strive to engage a diverse community of FITs and help you explore the many opportunities ACC has to offer.

Here are several ways you can get involved with ACC and the FIT Leadership Council:

  • Join us on social media! Follow @ACCinTouch, join DocMatter, and search #ACCFIT on X.
  • Stay connected through FIT communications. Watch for emails from our ACC liaison Bethany Parker and keep up with the ACC On-Call FITs monthly newsletter.
  • Participate in the Chief FIT Network (if you are a chief fellow).
  • Apply to join the FIT Leadership Council. Look for the call for applications in Fall 2026.
  • Be an advocate. Attend the yearly ACC Legislative Conference.
  • Attend ACC.27 next year In Houston, TX.Become an FACC. If you are graduating, continue your engagement with the College.

These are just a handful of the many opportunities available to FITs. If you have ideas or would like to get involved, we would love to collaborate with you. Please reach out to us at fellowsintraining@acc.org to share your interests, ideas and feedback.

Don't miss the opportunity to apply for the Thad and Gerry Waites Rural Cardiovascular Research Fellowship. Offering up to $70K in funding and support, this fellowship helps Fellows in Training and early-career cardiologists advance research and innovation that improve cardiovascular health in rural and underserved communities. Individuals who are committed to addressing health disparities, engaging with communities and creating lasting impact for historically underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply. Take Your Educational Innovation to ACC’s Cardio Sim Creator Competition

Do you have a simulator or simulation that will transform cardiovascular learning and training? Early career innovators are invited to submit procedural trainers, simulations, simulators or educational games that address real-world challenges and build clinical skills to ACC’s Cardio Sim Creator Competition. Applicants must provide a 3-to-5-minute video demonstrating their innovation and explaining its educational impact. The winner will be invited to present at ACC.27 Together With WCC (ACC.27-WCC), taking place April 10-12, 2027, in Houston, TX, and will receive a faculty appointment at the Cardio Sim Creators Station in the Personalized Skills Zone. Apply by Oct. 20 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Plus, don't miss the opportunity to showcase your work on the global stage: abstract and complex clinical case submissions for ACC.27-WCC are due by Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. ET. Share your research, real-world cases and innovative ideas with the worldwide cardiovascular community!

Join ACC's Fellows in Training Member Section's Medical Students Work Group on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. ET to learn how health care legislation affects cardiovascular care and discover opportunities for medical students to get involved. The webinar will highlight opportunities to participate in ACC Advocacy initiatives including ACC Legislative Conference, taking place Oct. 4-6, in Washington, DC. Learn more and register.
